The format will be a plenary session followed by a roundtable. In the initial plenary address, Cathy Lewin (Manchester Metropolitan University) will explain how technology (for example, social networks and media, or online learning) can disrupt and change pedagogical and social practices, stressing the importance of digital pedagogy and the tensions and overlaps between formal and informal learning with technology in different social contexts. In the roundtable moderated by Mar\u00eda de los \u00c1ngeles G\u00f3mez, <strong><em>Adriana Gewerc Barujel (USC)<\/em><\/strong> will discuss issues related to gender and the digital gender divide, while <strong><em>Mercedes Gonz\u00e1lez Sanmamed (UDC)<\/em><\/strong> will consider aspects of equity and digital inclusion, which will be followed by<em><strong>\u00a0 Jos\u00e9 Juan Pazos Arias (UVIGO)<\/strong><\/em> closing intervention on digital technologies, education and sustainability (sustainable development). After that, a debate will follow on the basis of specific questions related to the topics featured in the roundtable.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Digital Environments &amp; Literacies: Design, Testing &amp; Evaluation. <em>Organizers: Alfonso Lago Ferreiro, Irene Doval Reixa and Sidon\u00ed L\u00f3pez P\u00e9rez<\/em><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Panel 2, entitled \u00abDigital environments and literacies: Design, testing and evaluation\u00bb, provides a framework for the exchange of ideas and collaboration between multidisciplinary teams in which synergies are established between the technological and humanistic fields. This panel welcomes experts in the connection between information and technology (ICT) tools and language teaching and learning. The habitual use of ICTs as pedagogical tools allows progress in new didactic methodologies, not only favoring the process of production, management and dissemination of knowledge for the improvement of learning, but also offering the possibility of breaking barriers in a very diverse society. This strand of the panel will feature the following participants: <em><strong>Edmundo Tovar Caro (UPM)<\/strong><\/em>, President of the IEEE Education Society, considered to be the most important educational benchmark in the IEEE 8 Region (Europe, Middle East and North Africa); <em><strong>Manuel Caeiro Rodr\u00edoguez (UVIGO<\/strong><strong>)<\/strong><\/em>, expert in the development of web systems and in the application of information and communication technologies in education, particularly in the field of educational modeling language, process management systems, self-regulated learning, learning analytics and open educational resources; <em><strong>Carina Soledad Gonz\u00e1lez Gonz\u00e1lez (ULL)<\/strong><\/em>, editor of the IEEE RITA magazine, whose research activity focuses on the application of Artificial Intelligence techniques and accessible and intelligent interfaces in education; and <em><strong>Jos\u00e9 Carlos L\u00f3pez Ardao (UVIGO)<\/strong><\/em>, expert in technology and innovation in education: social networks, learning analytics, gamification, flipped classroom.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Panel 2 also includes another section devoted to multilingual corpora and tools or techniques conceived for corpus exploitation, as a concrete expression of the connection between ICTs and language teaching and learning. This section will feature the following participants: <em><strong>Silvia Hansen-Schirra (JGU)<\/strong><\/em>, expert in the interaction of corpus and translation; <em><strong>Johannes Gr\u00e4en (UZH)<\/strong><\/em>, creator of visual didactic corpus tools; <em><strong>Irene Doval Reixa (USC)<\/strong><\/em>, specialist in didactic use of the bilingual corpus; <em><strong>Ga\u00ebtanelle Gilquin (UCLouvain)<\/strong><\/em>, who will explain how the use of such techniques as <em>keylogging<\/em> and <em>screencasting<\/em> can contribute to improving written competence in English as a foreign language; and, finally, <em><strong>Milagros Torrado Cesp\u00f3n (UNIR)<\/strong><\/em>, and <em><strong>Inmaculada Santos D\u00edaz (UMA)<\/strong><\/em>, who will present the \u201cCleverCookie\u201d tool, a website designed to address the most common challenges that Spanish speakers have to face when writing and using the English language, showing the perceptions of the users of the tool.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Gaming &amp; Video Games: Trends &amp; Challenges. <em>Organizers: Boris V\u00e1zquez Calvo and Jos\u00e9 M. D\u00edaz Lage<\/em><\/b><br \/><b><\/b><b><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Panel 3, called \u201cGaming and video games: trends and challenges\u201d, will feature interdisciplinary research and proposals about video games and their educational potential for the teaching and learning of languages and other subjects. Contributions will deal with the more technical details of game design (<em><strong>Carlos Vaz de Carvalho, ISEP<\/strong><\/em>), experiences about ludic and inclusive learning (<em><strong>Donatella Persico and Francesca Pozzi, <b>CNR-ITD<\/b><\/strong><\/em>), an overview of current trends in research on game-mediated language learning (<em><strong>Jonathon Reinhardt, UofA<\/strong><\/em>) or the connection between games, learning and society (<em><strong>Constance Steinkuehler, UC Irvine<\/strong><\/em>).
